FRANKLIN MINT when they were on their game, could deliver a 1:24 scale diecast model that could knock a hockey puck right in to the net. This one scored huge for me, as the '56 Nomad is my favorite of the "Tri-Five" Chevy's NOMAD series. A Two-Door Station Wagon was not a new concept, but the sportiness and luxury of Chevy's NOMAD'S was!

I agree. But is it me, or is it just slightly bigger than 1:24 scale? Parked next to DM's '55 and '57 versions, the '56 seems to be bigger.

George, I agree. I have always thought it appeared very slightly larger than the DM 55 and 57. Looking at the model from the side the windows are taller and the tires are larger in diameter.
I'm not a big Nomad fan but I do like this one as the '56 Chevy is my fave of the tri-fives. I especially like the wheels on this model. Imo, they give it much sportier look. Similar wheels are on the turquoise '55 Pontiac Custom Catalina coupe.
No argument that wheels could always help make a car to look better. I remember in the Sixties how I always liked "Spinner" and "Moon" hubcaps on cars.

Thanks Bob! I just put the three Nomad's side-by-side and you are correct. Nice to know that I wasn't the only one.

The '56 Nomad has always been a favorite of mine. it was the 1st Nomad in my collection, so for awhile, I didn't realize the size difference.
When the DM '55 arrived and I parked them together, is when noticed it. The soon to arrive '57, made me think so even more.
At a car show, I saw all three parked together, and the '56 was the same as the other two. That's when I knew the model was just a bit too large.
But no worries, it is still a great model, and I just display it in another area from the others.

I've always thought that the Franklin Mint '55 Packard's are a little bigger too. When parked next to their '56 Nomad, they are the same size.
