Danbury Mint's LIMITED EDITION 1949 MERCURY CONVERTIBLE sales brochure arrived in my mailbox on April 28, 2004.  I picked up the phone, placed my order and this beautiful replica was on my car shelves on July 5, 2004.  It's been one of my favorites ever since!

REAL '49 MERCURY CONVERTIBLE FACTS:

The car rode on a 118-inch wheelbase and sported the optional fender skirts, which were ordered by most buyers.  It weighed in at 3,591 pounds and sold $2,409.  A total of 7,586 convertibles were built for the 1949 model year.

Where did the time go?

Nice model, not sure why I passed on it. Good job on the facts.

The flyers and brochures are almost as much of a collectible as the models are.  I miss getting them in the mail.  And I miss even more the immediate phone call to DM to place my order.  This flyer from DM touting the excellence of this iconic classic Mercury is safely filed in model car files.  As for the car, oh yea, it's as beautiful as it is described and remains a favorite on my car shelves.
