I had a small part to play in it. Motor City USA's owner, Alan Novak, knew I was going to the Concours d'Elegance for its 50th Anniversary and that the theme that year (2000) was "Teardrops" & Boattails". The featured car was the Talbot Lago.
I sent him about a million photos of T-L's and he made static resin models of them. There was a black one and two tone that were issued in exceptionally limited numbers and the maroon model. All sold out quickly. They are magnificent.
They are stunning. I never got any as they are out of my range of collecting. I still appreciate their beauty though. 💯
Karl, I have both models. They are rare because there weren't many 1/24 scale models built by Motor City.
@perrone1 Great photos - thanks, Tony! And that means they were made around 2001!
Another googled photo of all three:
Alan and I talked about one other potential model; the Talbot-Lago 150 C-SS Pourtout Coupe. I first saw it in an ad for champagne:
And one of the T-L Pourtout's I photographed. First light on hole #18 Pebble Beach:
That version never came to fruition.
Did anyone buy one? I only recently found out about it from this old flyer that TK gave me!
BTW The flyer is rarer than the model, this is the first time I see it, I have the maroon flyer.
I do have a set of the 3 models (actually 2 sets to be correct), they are significantly underpriced in the current market.
The black version is LE 50.
