Guys,
I've wanted to give an explanation for my absence, but unfortunately, I have been unable to. I am having a decent day, so I thought I'd stop by and explain.
This is a really long story and incredible ordeal, but because of my limited abilities-I must keep it short.
A little over 3 weeks ago, I developed a fairly serious eye infection. With medication and a couple procedures, the infection cleared but my vision did not improve.
Now after a multitude of tests, the determination is an issue with my retina, which will require surgery. That was scheduled, but late last week I redeveloped another infection, this time very severe in the one eye and just slight in the original eye. Today, I am now on heavy drugs which make me sleep a lot, my body feels like I've been runover by a truck. My vision is severely impaired to the point that computer time is almost impossible, just too blurry. I am stuck at home in a dark house because bright light is unbearable. I am also unable to work or to drive.
Everything is up in the air as to my surgery; the infection has to be cleared before they can look at the retinas effectively. I have never spent so much time with doctors or in the hospital/ER in my life.
So, when I can and I am having a decent day, I will stop by, make a comment or two, but I just can't pull together a post. Thanks to my wife, who corrected all my errors in this type and helped me to get it posted.

I have missed your posts of late,hoping that work demands or possibly seasonal blues were keeping you away.........it`s terrible to hear that you`re going through such a trial......jB

Keep a positive attitude, John ! This will get successfully taken care of and you will be back in action on the Forums and behind your camera. All of us here (and all your cars) are rooting for you !

John, so sorry to hear what you're going through. Focus on your heath and post when you're feeling better, not before. Don't put undue pressure on yourself. In the meantime, you're in our thoughts and prayers.

I am very sorry to hear this John. I echo the same comments as Mike DeTorrice. I know it is hard but try to be as patient as you can and stay rested so you can overcome the infection and be treated asap. We will all be cheering for you.

Hope all works out well for you John. It's too easy to take our sight for granted. After four eye surgeries, starting back in 2010, including two Tecnis multi-focal lens implants and two capsulotomies, I too, now have retina surgery looming in my future, so I am completely sympathetic to your ordeal. OMG John, I don't like your sad news. You are added to my morning prayer list with hopes that your sight improves and the surgery can correct the issues. Having only eye myself and not the best of sight in the other, I can totally relate to the agony you are going through. God bless you my friend.

It's hard to add anything to the previous replies. All I can add is my hopes and prayers and I hope this doesn't sound too self-serving, but you are sorely missed on the Forum.
