Flipping the light on in my car room this morning with my usual cup of coffee in hand, the "jumped out at me car" today was Danbury Mint's LIMITED EDITION 1956 FORD FAIRLANE SUNLINER CONVERTIBLE.  Only 2,500 were crafted.

Though the model itself was old tooling and a repaint (with a top added) of DM's original red and white convertible, this new Limited Edition has always been way more appealing to my eyes for two reasons.  One, it doesn't have the continental kit bulging from its rear end, and secondly, we have the "Top Up/Top Down" option.  But the real thing for me that makes this model special is the Pink over Black color combo.  It is STUNNING!  After typing this, I'm going to have a 2nd cup of coffee as I just admire the model.

Some REAL '56 FORD FACTS:

The new Ford for 1956 was actually a gilded over 1955 as far as appearance was concerned.  Ford did however, add two new series: the Fairlane Fordor Victoria, which was the first 4-door Hardtop Ford ever offered, and the Parklane 6-passenger, 2-door Station Wagon which was Ford's attempt at competing with Chevrolet's Nomad.  The Parklane was classed in the Fairlane series.

This year was also the last year that Ford offered their Crown Victoria Skyliner.  Sales showed that the public didn't go for the transparent roofed car so Ford made the decision to try and concentrate on models that would appeal to all buyers.

Ford's prices were increased slightly in 1956, ranging from $1,850 for the Mainline Tudor Business Sedan to $2,635 for the Country Squire Wagon.  Model year sales amounted to $1,392,847.

The '56 FORD FAIRLANE SUNLINER CONVERTIBLE sold for $2,460 with 58,147 of them rolling off the assembly line.

I agree George, the pink over black really makes the car stand out.

That model is a real stunner!  Perfect period-correct color combination.

I LOVE this Danbury Mint model.  I have the standard red & white one with the wart but this beauty outdoes it by far!

I have the red and white version too, and of the two, prefer the pink and black version.

Love it! I can't believe I would have passed on this "re-paint."
