I have had the blue Viper hardtop for some years but had trouble finding the convertible until now. Very nice model, great interior with lightly textured seats. Nice engine bay.
and a nest of Vipers!
Next is this Whitebox 1925 Opel 4/12 PS Convertible. These Hachette et al models do seem to be really improving in detail. The dash is 3D and there is a tiny plaque just below the passengers door where unfortunately my camera cannot pickup the wording.
Finally my build. I will not be discouraged but this one was really rough. A Heller 1/24 BMW Dixi. Firstly when checking out original photos there were a few yellow cars but all had black fenders. As the model had a one piece body there was no way I could paint an accurate straight and curved line so its an historically inaccurate one color. Then Heller offered hinged doors and a 4 pieced hinged bonnet. But left it up to the modeller to scratch build the hinges. Way beyond my current skillset. Also either Heller or the seller included an incorrect windscreen. The bottom edge is straight and the windscreen fits onto a concave part of the car body, I had to make do with what I had. And the bonnet is a poor fit.
ALL - Very Cool! Thanks for sharing in photos!
Geoff. All look great. Your model looks fantastic. If you did not explain about the fenders, I would have had no clue.
a rollicking good post !!!!.....I`ve been wondering when that multi-car garage would resurface.......and the sparsely adorned single car parking pad with trees is PERFECT..................your travails with the Heller model seem like a mix of seller omission and Heller`s unrealistic expectations
thank you gentlemen, much appreciated. Its getting hard to add to my diecast collection as most of the models I missed out on and want are the same that others want so they have become very pricey. I really enjoy the kits. Like the old riding a bike theory, the more you do it the better you get at it. My current Model T Express truck is coming along fine and I'm about to start a Packard Phaeton Speedster. While I love 30s cars I'm keen to have a go at other decades and have this on its way. The 53 Ford was popular here in Australia and I clearly recall how much I enjoyed seeing them in my first decade!
Geoff, Love both the Opel and BMW.
Thanks Bob. The Opel is really worth a look. I was really pleasantly surprisedwith it's detail.
Wow! I can't wait to see your '53 Ford completed!
You're not going to believe this, but I have the same '65 Continental kit. I bought it in 1997 after I bought my 1:1 Continental sedan. Sold the car 3 years ago, kit is still in the closet. Looking forward to seeing your completed Continental!
what a glorious car Pete, stunning!
Unfortunately an hour before I was to pickup the kit the seller cancelled the sale! I didnt know you could do that. I'll lookout for another one. Just checked my ebay and the Ford hasn't even left the U.S. yet. I'll start on another 30s car when I finish the Packard.
