This is a 1956 John Deere Model 420 with Four-Gang KBL Disc Harrow. In the 1/16th scale ‘precision diecast’ heritage of Ertl-produced tractor replicas, this is my latest. It is in their “Precision Key Series” collection. Much like the original precision line, the “Precision Classics”, the “Precision Elite” and my favorite, the “John Deere Collector’s Center” precision series, this is the fourth issue in the Precision Key lineup. Specifically, it is the John Deere Model 420 wide front utility tractor. This smaller, well-balanced work horse, has long been one of the farmer’s favorite choices. Outfitted here with a four-gang KBL disc harrow, it displays exquisite detailing.

KBL is one of Deere’s disc harrow cultivator models. They were offered in various configurations depending on intended field usage; the KB, KC, KBA, KCA, KBL and KBY. Attached to the model through its 3-point hitch system, the unit is chained securely and pinned.

Operational features include realistic automotive-type steering, moveable operation levers and hydraulic controls, precisely-scaled wiring and fuel lines and fuel sediment bowl. Foot pedals are operational and the four-gang harrow system is removable via chain/pins and the 3-point hitch system, attached with chained pins as well. The battery doors, on either side of the main body, are removeable and even the wheels exhibit grand detail with valve stem simulation.

All in all, a wonderful scaled replication of the genuine article.

@john-barry Yeah, John. It looks like killer locust.

I`d pay a substantial sum to see Tony place all his Mega-Tractors out on a two-ton patch of potting soil....set in a recreation of that 50`s classic horror film,"The Night of the Tractors" .....also released as "Muncho Destructo Tractorium" (for the Latin markets)

That sounds like a really cool idea John! However, too much work for an old man! Formal Smile

I love your tractor collection pics Tony.  I wish I had the room for 1:16 scale; mine are all 1:43.
