This is FM's venerable model of the Tucker 48 in Waltz Blue (or metallic cerulean) representing one of the 12 examples finished in that color. It's a much older model than DM's "Tin Goose", but it shows the changes that were made from the prototype mostly to cut production costs. I guess the most striking change is the 'suicide door' configuration to allow easier entry into the back seat. When DM released the "Tin Goose", I was hoping they'd follow up with an equally precision model of the production car, but it wasn't to be. Fun Fact: the fitted luggage and other accessories were sold (or presold) before the car was actually built to help raise money. One clue as to the age of the model is the branded "Firestone" tires. It wasn't long after that tire companies began to exact or demand crippling per unit licensing fees leading to generic tires on all but the most expensive models.
great how the paintwork gleams! Thanks Rich
That Blue is what made the Tucker stand out. A Great model.
Very cool. One of my 1st FM models. It's been a part of my collection for 30 years now. I love this one.
Great photos of this little gem.
