Phew...I'm back. It was a brutal storm. Got about 20" of heavy snow. Lost power for a day and a half. Back on now. Fortunately, never lost heat. We have an older gas furnace with a pilot. So it works even if no electricity.

Good to hear Doug. Still without power here in southeastern MA.
Thankfully I have a generator for heat and a few lights and power outlets.

27" in Whitinsville, MA, just north of the....
RI/CT border. Took all day to dig out. Thankfully, we had power through the storm. I am done for the year. Bring on Spring!!!

I have an old cast iron boiler. The water boils and creates steam that heats the old iron radiators. The best kind of heat there is in my opinion.

28" here in Cambridge, but we never lost power. Overall all of us were very lucky.

Agree about the best type of heat. At one time, I had a ranch type house with base-board hot water heat. The system was setup with 24 volt pump motors powered by an AC converter with battery backup. Backup system could function for 4-5 days. System also had 3 separate zones for individualized heat zone preferences. The AC was installed in the attic and dumped cooled air at the ceiling level. I also had a heat-circulating fireplace that I ducted one of the two fans to the AC ducting to add additional heat to the house in the winter. It all worked great.... We're sorry that we still don't live there....
