[Closed] PICs - Daily Dose of Diecast...Sunday

All I can say is it looks better in your photos than it does in person. This one and the gray version from Franklin Mint rank on my list of all-time worst diecasts. The only thing redeeming about it for me is that I have a '63 to go with all the other years of Chevy's from Danbury and Franklin.

Both this one and the gray one are on my shelf, but parked away in the back so that their many flaws will not be detected.

Nice / outstanding pics. I agree with George - this one SHOLD'VE been much better. I opted...

...for the custom '63 lowrider version. It had a much better stance and was fairly correct for what it represented. I took advantage of the 'adjustable' front suspension and got it as low as I could.

I wanted this red one; but, passed.

Sad too - because my first new car was a 63 SS Impala 327 300HP

To bad WCPD didn't release a '63 Chevy. Brian would have gotten it spot on.

That's true but keep in mind that the tooling for this Impala is ancient! Lol

Phil, I don't see the "tooling being ancient" being an excuse. FM had given us many great cars during the same time period that the '63 Chevy was given us. They just didn't do a quality job on it. And it seemed that was too often the case with FM in those years. Some cars were "spot on" while others left so much to be desired.

This isn't new news, as on this Forum back in the day we all discussed the good and bad of Franklin and we also came to the realization that Danbury in most instances gave us better quality reproductions.

WCPD was mentioned and my point was comparing the WCPD Impala to FM or saying had they done a 63 it would have been better. That's like saying my 2012 car is much more dependable and starts easier then the 1960 something model I once owned. Of course it does carb vs. Fuel injection two different beasts . Same with older tech models compared to later, higher tech models. Yes I will agree that even for the time it was made it could have been better and TFM did release better models during that time period. So we agree to disagree to agree 😁😂😁 LOL

What do you mean by "cut outs"??

I had cutouts on my 58 Pontiac - small capped exhausts welded into the front pipes to by-pass the muffler etc.

I know what that system / mod is but I thought it was just called exhaust "bypass". I know they make electrical kits now with dampers that open electrically. Kind of cool that you could go from whisper quiet to "stock car" sound with the flick of a switch lol. I remember in the 1980s some had cable operated systems. So I learned something ......."cut outs"
