PICS: My WISH LIST 1:24 die-cast car #32 1952 HUDSON HORNET
Okay, okay, don't get excited, the photos with this post are of a 1:18 scale model. My question is, where is Superman's arch-evil foe Brainiac with his Shrinking Ray when we need him?
Shrink this classic bathtub down to 1:24 scale and I'm all over it like syrup on Flapjacks.
The forever timeless appeal of Hudson lore and the excitement I remember old timers have when talking about "their Hudson's" will convince you quickly that the Hudson car was one that was both loved and trusted.
Franklin Mint gave us the '51 coupe and how nice would it have been for them to follow up with a '52 like this?
My Dad owned a 1950 when I was 8 years old in 1960 and remember thinking that it looked like a car should look. It was so big and fun to sit in. He owned a lot of cars over the years, but that Hudson was probably my favorite of all of them.
Oh yea, this '52 is high on my "Wish List", and now with the exciting teaser news from Michelle Peters here on the Forum, that 1:24 models are in the works, I feel that I can ignite my "Wish List" to hopeful again.
This would be "WOW FACTOR" car on my shelf. How about yours?

I would go for it because it is a Hudson, but I would prefer a convertible of this one.

Yes; but, in '1' solid body color please.
A primary reason that I've always NOT preferred convertibles is that having a cloth top on a car or having no top at all distracts from the overall character (at least to my eyes) of the car.
In the case of this iconic Hudson, the roof-line is some of what makes it the legendary car it is.
I wouldn't turn down a convertible in 1:24 scale, but I certainly would not want to immediately put conditions on any thoughts that perspective 1:24 scale producers might consider.
To my thinking, just give us 1:24 scale of cars that haven't already been given (i.e. the Chevy's, Caddy's, and Ford's). Whether a coupe or convertible, or both, this Hudson would have me hopping up and down.

So just to clarify, your color preference or you don't buy? We all have our favorite colors, but never let that get in the way of my NOT buying a 1:24 scale car. My thinking is, getting the car is most important, and if it's not my favorite color, I can live with that.
I'd even take one in my least favorite car color...white!
I remember when Danbury and Franklin were giving us cars on a regular basis, I always got frustrated when many of us here on the Forum would criticize a car for a variety of reasons like, it's not a convertible, it's not a favorite color, it's not a four-door, and an on-going list of "Of I'd rather have this or that".
And in no way am I implying that we all can't have our preferences. I just think we all have to bear in mind that we can't all be satisfied 100% on every release.
If the news release from Michelle Peters will provide us with 1:24 scale cars, it's okay to continue to have our own "wish lists", but we also have to be open-minded and support the company that is attempting to bring 1:24 back in to the fold.
That is my intention!

Much as I LOVE Hudsons, not different enough from the '51 to make me buy it even if they made it.

I LOVE the step-down Hudsons but I don't care for that giant windshield header on the convertibles.

Agree and understand. It still depends on the car and if I'm 'madly in love' with it. If at all...
...possible, I also intend to buy any/all new 1:24 issues that I might desire.
I want this new 'Peters'-venture to get off the ground too.
But, if they want my money - they need to ring my bell.
2/3 of your wish list car do 'ring my bell'...but, not all did.
This would be a hit, George SCHIRE. I found the "c" on my kb!

No! I thought you guys wanted something different. In my book this is much too similar to TFM issue.

+1. Too many other "undone" subjects.
Do you temember how it was back in the day, Billy, when a manufactuer, not content with producing just the one version of a model then proceeded to run out every variation of the same car. Great idea if a collectors specialty was that one make of car, but a royal pain for other collectors who want more variety in their collections.
When it comes to 'collecting' - there is no right or wrong answer ...just 'different'.
