Please help solve a "mystery" for me. Our review of the Revell Creative Masters Shelby GT350 states in the third and final paragraph that the item number for the black engine variety is 8820 and the blue engine's is 8865. I believe the numbers are reversed. Can any of you who own the blue or rarer black engine models please check your boxes or comment on your knowledge of this matter. Thanks.
Bob, the codes that YOU show are the correct ones.
Thanks Tony. The reason I asked to make sure is that examples of the model are showing up on ebay..
with black painted engines, but with boxes marked 8820. Our review would seem to validate the erroneous re-painted models. Thanks again.
What I can add....
I still have the original literature that Creative Masters mailed out for the 350GT. The literature litho dates are 8/93,3/94 and 9/94 respectively.
All 3 show pictures of the car with a blue engine block.
I also still have the invoice from Revell for the car dated 3/25/93. So, that dates my GT350 to early 1993 with a blue engine block and 8820 on the box.
If I interpret Tony's response correctly, 8820 is the blue block version and 8865 is the issue with black engine.
You got it right Ted!
