Preview Society Limited Ed. 1941 Cadillac :

well, I just bought my first model on this auction site.
I hope it will be worth every penny, although I don't feel like that now 🙂
What is the Preview Society about? Can anyone join?
Thanks
Will

William,

Anyone can join the Preview Society. Just can Danbury Mint at 800-243-4664.
You save some money when they auto-send models to you. I think it's about a $15.00 savings. You can request a certain model if you are anxious to receive one that's a part of the Preview Society series.
I requested the 1947 Ford and it shipped out Thursday. Can't wait to get it.

One of them sold on Ebay day before esterday for $295.00.

If that's any indication of how they're going to hold or increase in value you probably got a good buy. You couldn't have bought it from a nicer guy, Bob White is one of the best.

Danbury's site says on backorder until 12/10 so maybe the buyer was in a hurry.

From their site:
Die-Cast > Limited Edition 1941 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60

E-mail A Friend
Limited Edition 1941 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 Close Limited Edition 1941 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60
Item Number: 0177-0056
$149(plus $9 s&s)
4 Monthly Installments of $39.50

Recalculating Price...
Sorry! This item is currently on backorder and will not be available until December 10, 2008. You may still order this product and it will ship 1-2 weeks after that date.

Thanks Allan:

I assume you have to be a member to see this on the DM website?

It was impossible that all would have already been sold.........

in a so short period of time. This repaint is on the market for a month only. In fifteen years I collect, I have never seen a model to be sold out in one month.

William, I am sorry that you paid more.................

than the regular price for a repaint that is just on the market for a month. You have been rip off at least $25.00. You would have paid about $135.00 as a Preview Society member.

As a consolation, just think about a member offering one on this auction for $295.00. I wish him good luck to try to rip off another collector.

Richard I saw one on D4C for $250 I think? didnt the one for $295 sell on Ebay?

Also as long as the seller didn't say Discontinued (if it infact ISN'T), or "Hard to find" or any other adjective that would mislead anyone to think that its not currently available, then there is nothing wrong with ANYONE making a profit. A case of buyer beware and do your own research before you buy something. I know myself I now investigate EVERYTHING i buy to get the best "deal" I assume that those that just jump to pay $295 can afford to do so and don't mind spending extra nor have time to price shop. No reason to call the sellers a rip off or anything else! As I said as long as they list it as what it is, an LE of 1000 MIB etc... No SOLD OUT, RARE, DISCONTINUED, etc. Naturally if the model IS such then that is fine to have in a listing as well and the more $$ the seller makes, more power to him/her! Smile

PS members have a discount................

of fifteen dollars. $149.00 is the regular price. At my knowledge, the policy has not changed.

Look at item # 79467..............

When Mr. Ford says that the item is DISCONTINUED when it is back order from DM and he is asking $295.00, how cannot you agree that it is rip off and false information to make profit from not so informed and knowledgeable collectors as you and me?

Richard, Thank you. I thought I heard the Caddy WAS discontinued.

If I was wrong than I apologize. I have pulled the item off auction. I am not a crook. I do no intend to "rip anyone off" and don't appreciate your comments. Good day.

Well, I checked and you are right.................

It seems that they changed the policy. I would call it a repaint at inflated price.

Mr Dube, See my posts above.

I do not appreciate your "rip off" comments. I pulled the auction. Next time, if you have a problem with me or an item I have on auction contact me off the forum.

I have been a partisipating member of this forum and auctions for about 10 years and you are the first to ever call me a rip off.
