Question for Vette "experts"
In 1967 could you have ordered the Sunfire Yellow Corvette, with a Black stinger hood/stripe, AND a BLACK removable roof? Or would a body colored removable hard top be the only choice???? Please let me know, THANKS!
No stinkers were available in 1967! You're getting the....
Corvette mixed up with the T-bird. LOL!
Philip; yes, you could order the Sunflower Yellow with a Black, Auxilary Hardtop, but it had to have the Vinyl Covering. I don't think you could order the "STINKER" hood/stripe. It would be too smelly, when riding with the top down! :O :"> X-(
😉
Cut him some slack....Ya'll know it was a typo for STINGER
Tom,,, yes, we know! We are just yanking his chain. He knows that we are jesting. We are all friends here, right? :-/
Thanks guys! And YES it was a TYPO that's what I get for .....
NOT proof reading my Posts. I almost always do, and it amazes me that sometimes a word I've typed is NOTHING at all what was intended! I do type fast and at any given moment have 1/2 a million projects going on and things on my mind so..... THANKS for the info on that STINKING (LOL) Stinger / Roof information. 😉 Correction to the Post has been made was well!
No and yes...
The removable hard top was always body color. It was RPO option: C07 Auxiliary Hardtop, for convertibles. Extra charge was $231.75 and 6,880 were made for model year 1967. You could also opt, however, for the RPO option C08, a Vinyl Covering for the Auxiliary Hardtop. It did come in black. It cost $52.70 and 1,966 were made in total. So if you replicate a diecast hard top in black it should approximate the 1:1 vinyl-clad unit.
Tony, any pics of this type of unit?? Sounds NEATO lol
Did it have the Vinyl seems near the outter roof edges or was it simply a completely textured surface similar to a sprayed on looking finish? THANKS big "T" I figured YOU or John Phillips would know 😉
Hi Phil! I don't have pics, but I had a friend in our Corvette Club that had one of the hard tops with the Black covering, and I only saw it one time, and as I recall, it was all one piece, without seams. it has been a few years since I saw it, and that member moved to North Carolina and I'm out of contact with him, or I could call him and ask. Sorry! Again, this is just my memory, not 100%. :-/, but I'm 99.9% sure! B-)
I sure hope so.......
Sorry Phil, I have no pics of one. I only recall seeing one...
...vinyl roof hard top on a 'midyear'. Ironically, it was a 1967 Vette. It was last year at the Reeder Corvette Show where I entered the C4. It was a Marina Blue car with the black vinyl auxiliary hard top. To be honest, I disliked it so much I failed to get a photo! If memory serves, it did not have seems.
I could imagine that Tony, a vinyl roof on a Corvette removable or ....
Otherwise would be like having a Continental Kit on a BMW LOLOLOL
Hey wait a minute guys, my '69 Vette had a vinyl hardtop and it looked darn handsome.
The car was hugger orange and the top was black vinyl and YES, IT DID HAVE SEAMS. Unfortunately, I don't have any pix that show the roof close enough to show them. The car had 36000 miles on it when I sold it in 1989.
1969 Corvette with black vinyl top...
And yes it does have the seams on it.
photo no longer available
Sorry about the poor pictures but this is the best I could find on a short notice. B-)
