The recently purchased Danbury Mint Hispano-Suiza J12 arrived this afternoon and there are two issues I noticed, though the first issue may just be my misunderstanding.
First, the front wheels do change direction, but they do not seem to be activating the steering wheel, as this would do with my other 1/24s. Is this a feature of the model?
Second, the seller made certain no one could see the damage to the roof of the model, with the photos he posted. It only took me ten seconds to get two photos that would have told me to continue with my search and let this one go:
All of the photos he posted, which contained any view of the roof, did not include any of the rot I can clearly see in my photographs - taken fifteen minutes after the model was out of the box. Original sale photos:
It is NOT uncommon for a 'Mint' car to have a disconnect in the steering. It should have been mentioned by the seller. The top is also a deal-breaker and should have been mentioned or at least photo'ed.
He should give you a partial refund or take the model back at your discretion. Sorry you went through this. One of the nice things we enjoyed, buying these models new, was the no-questions-asked policy of returns the Mint's had in force.
@perrone1 He does state a 'no returns/no refunds' policy, but if he tries to sidestep the issue I will take it directly to eBay and they will find in my favor, in this case. He also stated in his text 'No damage,' in reference to the model's condition, which is patently false. I don't see a problem with getting my money back, and the model is already repacked for shipping.
Beautiful model initially. What a shame that there was obvious deception.
@david-green It's not uncommon, over here. I've had seven issues this year, alone, all refunded, of course. It's just a pain in the butt to deal with them.
He just offered me a 20 Euro refund but still says his policy is no returns. Like that will hold water. I'm off to send a note to eBay.
Claim filed now I just have to wait a couple of days to see what this tadpole does next. He presents himself as 'a collector of many years, downsizing his collection.' A more accurate description of his person might be schmuck.
Maybe he's trying to " do " right about the situation he presented incorrectly?
@modeldadeeee LMAO!!! If you could see the insane texts he was sending to me you would immediately understand why I found that concept hilarious. He is a very nasty person and he tried every trick in the book, including lying through his teeth at every juncture. It has been one of the ugliest transactions I have ever experienced on eBay.de, and you have to know about the others to properly measure just how ugly it was to deal with this man. In the end, I let him know I wasn't a fool and telling me that 'the buyer can never return an item, when it was bought from a private party,' was the kicker. I didn't get upset, because what would be the point, when dealing with someone like him? In the end, he folded his tent and the refund will hit my account as soon as I drop off the box at DHL, in the village.
My advice to anyone else who has a seller like this is to remember Bob's advice, to go to eBay resolutions immediately, and save yourself a headache.
@gdh thank goodness you held firm and weren't deceived by his tomfoolery. I first noticed that no refunds/ no returns policy and said rubbish. If you present something not true, they yes you need to be held accordingly.
My current seller has stated he's shipped to me already but tracking was non existent. OK, let's play I said. Contacted my credit card company asap. Money is back in my account and now he tells me his dog died so he was traumatized. Well you could have said as such as opposed to telling me what I've paid for was shipped. Wants me to cancel the claim and resend the funds. Hmmmmmmm, let me get on that immediately plus some bonus funds.🤔
