This is a 2008 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T which I just finished building. It is a Testors kit, I did a little paint add's here and there, but otherwise a fun build of a vehicle that I did not have. Testors/Lincoln Mint made many really nice kits that when assembled could easily stand side by side with a DM or FM vehicle. I think I have 8-10 more kits to find in my stash and still build.Â

Great detail, and great duco...  do you use spray paints ? 😀Â
Greg, the Testors kits, come pre-painted.  Other than adding little touches all you do in put it together.
Nicely done John. I've built a couple of the Testors kits and with a little detailing they could easily pass for early DM or FM issues. I see in the background your '57 Chevy project. Keep us posted on its progress.
Great work and photos John! I've not built many models over the years, as my talent and patience are limited. I applaud you for your efforts. The model looks awesome!

Thanks to all. Pete the 57 Chevy was a donor car I purchased to fix a front suspension on the FM black convertible which had a broken front tie rod end and spindle. I don't know what I will do with the rest of the car. As you probably can see the roof was destroyed somehow. I will use the engine in some other Chevy build I do. Might sell the rest for parts.
George. As I have gotten older, I actually take more time in building than when I was younger and always rushing through to get to the final result. Sometimes good but most of the time bad. The eyes are the problem for me, since I only use readers, I have to switch from my standard use to a more amplified glass so I can see the parts and where they need to go. It is annoying if I drop something and then have to switch back, but I still enjoy the hobby and have plenty more kits to work on.
John thats brilliant, I've been in Brisbane this past week, back home now and keen to get back into building. I'm part way thru a Johan 1931 Cadillac and a Monogram 1931 Rolls roadster, along with starting the paintwork on a Revell 1937 Chevy van. George I had a 60 year hiatus between building. I'm finding building a great way to spend some retirement hours. I'm slow and learning as I go along but thats good too!
@georgeschire Thank you George. It is fun to feel like a kid again.
@geoff-jowett Geoff. Not keen on 30's models, but would love to see your finished products. But I do have that Revell 37 Van tucked away somewhere. Might have to give a go at it.
I'd love to see Testors or some other model builder come out wtih "pre-painted" models that all we have to is snap them together. At my age, my patience to put a model together is not-existent. Would love some 40's, 50's and 60's cars. Â

Sure will Steve, slow going though. Second paint coat and quite a bit more construction on the Rolls to go. Having a bit of bother with the Johan Cadillac. Didnt realise ebay seller had started it and the chassis is glued out of alignment. Plus a couple of crucial missing parts. I'll persist and make something out of it. I'm happy to take my time. Its a real relearning process after the 60 year hiatus!
@georgeschire Revell kits are still around. I have the "Bullitt" Mustang and Charger and the "Vanishing Point" Challenger and they are really well done with prepainted exteriors.
