Ummm, agreeing to the "one-time-fix" I think was not really a good move. At best, one has likely traded one problem for another .... and for high cost.
After my complete system restore I did this....
Called the credit card company and explained the circumstances and after seeing that they had not attempted to get their money they closed my account and issued me a new credit card. So I am out no money.
Just noticed I am back on for more that one post finally. THANK YOU!!!
OOPS!!!
Well, you are lucky ! But .... you do not know what may have been done initially, or especially since the computer "technician" "fixed" your machine.
Sadly, there are a boatload of things (ranging from unfortunate to very bad) that can be done and a number of them you might not notice at all. There can be keyloggers, or boot sector viruses resistant to detection, or programs designed to turn your computer into a "zombie" (unknown to you) that will go on-line for DOS attacks or to do other things that may trace back to your (apparent) IP address.
Just be very careful and alert to any problems or oddities.
Hey Larry - JMHO ... Windows 10 Windows Edge sucks big time
I lost my big desk top with XP
MAN how I miss that set up ... it was so sweet!!!
Then .... BAM!
I lost .... EVERYTHING ... and I do mean EVERYTHING
Motherboard, hard drive all the ram sticks ... eveything
GONE
Just for a very fast fix and a serious lack of $$$$
I bought this cheap laptop with windows 10 and EDGE
I am now looking at and researching APPLE .
I've had it with windows
Dennis, you can opt to run windows explorer on ver.10 and dump Edge.
I have "10" but I use Google Chrome instead of Edge.
