Is there an information source that explains the procedures involved in dismantling DM & FM models?

You might try clicking on Features (above), then click on Diecast Nuts, then click on Myron Ervin's Helpful Tips. There's a plethora of information there, although not much on disassembling a diecast car.
I didn't click on the other 3 Nuts (George, Dana or Paul). Other than this feature on this site, I can't remember anything else that dealt with strictly taking apart a diecast car.

Along the same lines of disassembly, when the more experienced modeler does a repaint, where do they source new decals for the replacement of the emblems and scripts and that sort of thing ?

Disassembly
The only model I have disassembled is the Danbury 56 Ford Convertible. Looking underneath, the assembly screw for the front half is fairly obvious. The screws for the back half took a little inspection to find. After removal of the convertible boot you lift the tray behind the rear seat and you will find 2 screws that secure the rear half of the body to the chassis. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of inspection to figure it out

I’ve takin apart many, and No two models are the same.
Some are rather complex in the way they are assembled. Screws are hidden everywhere, under gas tanks, under glued down seats and other parts. Some models can be rather frustrating to disassemble

Many thanks to you all for pointing me in the right direction.
And there it was all the time staring me in the face behind the "Features" tag up top there. I've now been able to take apart a DM 1953 Chevy Truck - what a trial - and a 1953 Corvette - a breeze.
