as Bullwinkle would often tell us: "nuthin` up ma sleeve"
for anyone who may find this interesting, here`s how I accidentally produced a pretty neat seashore scene
THE SETUP
On top of 2 levels of “wavy” glass table tops, are 2 levels of acrylic panels……the rearmost panel is angled slightly forward and half the depth of the lower panel….an old foam core board acts as a green screen for post-editing
I tend to use water to add interest and depth when using my acrylic panels, usually from a spray bottle. The garden hose was at my feet and handy,so it became the default "provider"
It was very hot on the day when I shot this. When I inserted the nozzle from the garden hose under the bottom acrylic sheet, the water coming out was the sort of foamy aerated water that typically you would discard as you’d wait for the stream to clear. I came very close to opening the nozzle to “clear” all the encapsulated bubbles…..I`m glad I decided to take some test shots instead
As it turned out, the “foam” trails nicely emulated sea foam dissipating on a shoreline…..just as you might see at the shore when the waves recede.
My first series of shots were made with the half-depth panel to the forward position. This gave a nice sandy beach effect, but put my foam trails in the wrong order. It also left the leading edge of the panel prominently viewable
Reversing the acrylic panels produced a VERY satisfying effect
Very creative JB. Love the effect.
thanks Bob !!
