Grandpa's heading to the airport in this 1964 Checker cab. According to the ID on the dash, the cab driver's name is Shamus O'Toole. It's a cute piece of whimsy and nostalgia by the Franklin Mint.

That accessory is a sore point. I lost a camera years ago that way. Nice model.

Have it, love it. Always marveled that an NYC fleet taxi would have a manual transmission. Lived and worked in NYC most of my existence and rode in many Checkers and taxis. Never came across one with a stick shift...until this FM issue.

@sizedoesmatter LOL....that would be quite a left leg workout every day driving a manual trans taxi in NYC!

I also have it, love it. Years ago I had a job that took me to NYC several times each year and never did I see a stick shift cab. I can't imagine how tired the driver's left leg and right arm must have been after driving in NYC traffic all day long.
