Built in 1938, the Phantom Corsair was a collaboration between Rust Heinz (think: 'ketchup') and Maurice Schwartz of coachbuilders Bohman & Schwartz. The prototype was built on the V8 powered Cord 810 platform as a 6 passenger tudor sedan. It cost $24K to build ($380K today) and the production cars were to have an MSRP of $12.5K. Heinz died in a car crash so production was cancelled. The car was featured in a 1938 movie "The Young in Heart" where it was called the "Flying Wombat".

I don't believe I've ever seen the movie, at least I don't remember it.
But the model I have. That is one I had to have and pre-ordered as soon as it was announced.
Great photos, it is a beauty.

Love the car, but I'd hate to back it up. Beautiful pics as usual Rich!
Have it, love it. A part of automotive history.
