I made a list of all the 30’s and 40’s Mint models I wanted, and this one was for some reason very hard to find in nice shape, and something I could afford. Found this one on my usual go to, eBay, and am very happy with it. It appears brand new, and is a very beautiful shade of blue. It’s actually the last on my want list, so I can take a little breather. My Vettes use to occupy this shelf so I’ll have to redecorate with old Ford logos.
What a nice collection. I’m glad that you reached your goal.
@david-green Thanks David, hopefully I won’t go off on another tangent. I’ve always loved the old Hot Rod Fords, now this late in life I’m realizing how cool the stockers are.
First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS! It is always something special to complete a collection one strives to gather. If it is what I think it is, it's the DM numbered limited edition '40 Ford Convertible in Como Blue.
These are hard to find for a couple of reasons; the limited nature of the issue and the fact that they are very well liked and appreciated by their owners who do not turn them over to the secondary market. In the condition you mention, even rarer. Way to go Kevin, you deserve a round of applause!
@perrone1 Thanks Tony, this one would be very hard to let go, and it is the Como blue. Danbury made a really great selection of 1940 Fords, which are near and dear to me. I never owned a 1/1, but when I was about 11 years old we were visiting my Grandparents in Wisconsin who had come over with my Dad from Switzerland. They would sit around talking, with my Dad translating to Mom, and I had to get out of there for the sake of the little sanity I had. Grandma was French sector so it sounded like she was singing, and Grandpa was German sector so he alway’s sounded pissed off. Anyway, I had earlier begged for an AMT 3 in 1 ‘40 Ford 2 door sedan ( I had to beg because it was $1.50, big bucks in 1963 ). I spent my time there in the hay loft in their barn building that model, and I think that’s why I have an affinity to the ‘40. I noticed you didn’t play my trivia game. Do you recognize the teens working on the ‘36?
Is that Wally Cleaver and Eddy Haskel? And is that also Lumpy?

Kevin, what an absolutely amazing collection of old Henry's best. And a great score on the blue '40. Enjoy buddy, you deserve it.💯👍😎

David is correct - Wally, leaning into the engine bay on right in the photo, with Eddie Haskel looking over his shoulder.
On photo left, Lumpy Rutherford in background but I do not recognize the fourth guy.

Is that $ for one or both ?
@100ford2003 It’s a plaster cast, you can’t break up the pair!
@perrone1 I think that 4th guy was one of the extras that just showed up every once in a while. I have the complete LITB series, and my wife and I would watch an episode every night before bed. We went through the CD’s twice and are now on our 2nd time through I Love Lucy! I suppose that’s just what old people do?
You got THAT right. We do the same. We finished all seasons of "Columbo", went straight to all 13 series of "Poirot", then recently completed all the "Crime Story" DVD's. After a 'regular' movie, we are now watching two episodes of "The Three Stooges" before hitting the sack! We have the 30's and 40's episodes of the boys - yeah, we're THAT old!@perrone1 I think that 4th guy was one of the extras that just showed up every once in a while.
