Today I received a DM brochure for a 1954 Corvette Nomad LE to be produced until 12/31/05. Copper with cream roof.

Do you mean the 1954 Corvette Waldorf Nomad show car?

If so, why in heck would they do the wrong exterior color???? The original car was not that color, and there was only a single example made - long ago destroyed.

Dave, no reason for the different color, although they do call it a tribute to and a customized version of the Nomad show car. Maybe problems with licensing w/original colors??? It is shown with mag wheels, blackwall tires, and no mesh stone guards over the headlights.

Is this part of their Rod and Custom series then?

"Tribute" doesn't sound like "replica".

DM you just keep blowing my mind. What little is left of it anyway after the 60's

Rod & Custom series does not have any LEs.

I was thinking the same thing - the fastback would be a logical next model

How about a segue to an F88?

I'd love this one.

I think I understand both the wording and the color.

I seem to remember reading that although the original Waldorf Nomad looked very much like a Vette with a Nomad roof, it was, in fact, quite different dimensionally...longer wheelbase, etc. Therefore, the DM model is not a true reproduction of it, but a tribute to it. The color variation is probably an attempt to distance the model a bit more from the original.

YES....and it had a real V8 instead of a pathetic six like Corvette.
