You might be right Mark....

Although the car has many of the design features of the Corvette, it is definitely NOT a Corvette. Along with the wheelbase difference, almost every body panel was different from the original 'Vette. The hood and front quarters of the car was much shorter too. There is also a fair amount of doubt as to whether the original ever had en engine. Although photos exist of the car neing "driven" up ramps into a semi trailer, an interview with the fellow who personally had a hand in destroying the prototype said there was never an engine installed.

Polar Lights found all these differences out when they announced a styrene model kit of the Nomad show car before doing the research, and ultimately cancelled the release rather than do a brand new mold to get the Nomad right.

I've not seen any pics of the DM offering yet.....

Incidentally, you can get BOTH the Nomad and the Corvair fastback from http://www.RnDUnique.com in transkit form in 1/25 scale. Now if I could just find the time to do the F88 Olds.......

Dave
