Love it or hate it, not many on the fence, I’m definitely a lover! This car debuted in the 1953 Motorama held at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel, a year after I was born. Unlike me, the Chevrolet Corvette is still going strong after all these years. I actually had this Danbury replica but sold it with the rest of my Corvette collection and have always regretted it. I have since recovered the ‘53, the ‘56, and the silver ‘59, three of my favorites. I just completed the purchase of this EX 122 concept which is actually nicer than the one I sold, being that it’s new in the box with all docs, and the seller gave me a very, very good offer. I personally think the design of the 1953 Corvette was, and is to me one of the greatest to come out of Detroit, and the concept model has a ton of Easter eggs. I’m stoked all over again!

Congrats Kevin! Fantastic addition. Glad it surpasses the one you sold.
NOTE: for those new here and may not know; this is the Danbury Mint version. Franklin Mint's 1953 came first. DM's improved tremendously upon it by adding the add-on windows and textured tops among others. Their '54 and '55 models all came with the add-ons as well. Then they issued the EX122, the experimental and historically correct Corvette that preceded the production models.

@perrone1 Tony I have the red, White & Blue but that yellow looks lovely... may have to wait I am on the hunt for a reasonable price + postage for a 1964 DM Corvette

@perrone1 When I received the X122 I was excited to have it in my collection...there was only one big problem, my 1/24 scale Corvettes are the only cars I have in chronological order which meant having to move every other car back a space to place this one in the number one spot.

Yep. All my Corvettes go by year as well. It takes a lot of movement when a newbie has to be fit into its correct place.

Thanks for all your comments, I took a little break from the forums to get some much needed work around the house before winter comes. Still have plenty left to do but am taking a much needed break. I won’t be filling in any more Vette holes in my collection, I’m sticking to my self imposed limits to my collecting, only models that I really love, no real common models, and nothing after 1959. Besides, I have very limited display space and half of my collection is waiting for another shelf to be built. I’m on a fixed income, and medicated bipolar, so I need to be careful that I don’t get out of control like I tend to do. Right now I’m slowly juggling models around selling models to get others that I like better, still maintaining the number of models I have. I’m pretty content right now, there are only really a couple out there that I might get if I catch if they are a good deal. It’s a lot more enjoyable for me since I’ve limited myself to only Danbury’s, and pre-sixties. Here’s a pic of my favorites if you’re interested.
