By 1940, Cadillac had discontinued their V12 and V16 engines, leaving for 1941, their 150 HP 346 cid V8 with a 2 bbl carburetor. To its credit its mid-range torque was a healthy 283 lb/ft. When passenger car production was halted in 1941, Cadillac continued producing their V8 as well as their 4 speed Hydro-Matic for our army's light tanks which used two of the V8s in line mated to that automatic transmission. This Cadillac Fleetwood series 60 Special offered a luxe interior with leather everywhere with wood trim. I love the nose of this car with its intricate and formidable looking grill topped by a regal looking winged Cadillac crest just below the hood mascot. The base price for the 60 series Fleetwood was just under $2100 with about 4000 sold for 1941.
Great review and great car. Much appreciated.
Regal is the right word for the manner in which it presents itself. Who created this model?
So, DM chose to include tire valve stem detail on this beautiful model ? I find that to be incredible detailing !!

@100ford2003 LOL Any model that features valve stems is a good model, I'm guessin'.
I couldn't believe the replicated quality of the interior on this model when you posted pics all those years ago Rich. Just had to have one!
An incredible model, even though DM issued the model in a 2-tone green, it just doesn't have the class and distinction the black one does.

+1!, elegant, refinement too maybe? An incredible model, even though DM issued the model in a 2-tone green, it just doesn't have the class and distinction the black one does.
Great post and pics, Rich. I've had the black issue from when it was released by DM. I never cared for the green issue, to me it resembled a military vehicle.
