Why???? Why do they do it?
Cut and paste and see if anyone has an answer.

link doesn't work
Copy and paste worked.... REAL CREEPY bunch with the monster truck.... :>)) ....
Don, here's what I know (heard, etc....) This "doll phenomenon" is analogous in theory to what......
...model railroaders do. They build towns and store-fronts named after spouses or grandkids, etc...
It's a way to include the family in your hobby(despite the fact they really don't care!)
These dolls are usually next to cars because it reminds them of "little Johnny or Suzie" or because "the wife" thought it would look cool or "the wife" sells them at a booth nearby.
I've been seeing these dolls at shows for about 10 years now.
Good or bad........they don't seem to be going away.
Another trend I see, although not yet as prevalent, are full size mannnequins in cars at shows and cruising like at the recent Wooward Dream Cruise.
Who knows, in a few years perhaps classic car owners will be able to purchase Apple robots..??

People are already driving like dummies, so why not ?
Hit the nail on the head....LMAO
I hate those damn things!!!!
Personally I get a chuckle out of them. They add interest to a display, IMO.
I hate them too....except for the one under the 40 Ford LOL
If you want full size.
Try these. I have seen these in person.
This guy is a master at these.
Oh, these aren't nearly as offensive as...
...the little doll arms or legs that some people put coming
out of their trunks. THAT'S seriously sick...
Good question, Don. I've never been able to figure out what the charm of these things was. Chris....
offers a plausible explanation up above, but if they're supposed to remind us of "our" cute grandchildren, why the morose pose?
Fortunately, they don't seem anywhere near as numerous at the shows I've been to recently. Hope the trend continues. They have always really creeped me out.
They certainly have caught on. They're quite common now.
Wow..talk about scale figures! I need about 62 50's people and 4 city blocks!
I'd rather see the little dolls.
