Yesterday I received the 1960 Corvette from DM and while the model is decent, the color is totally off. From 1959 through 1962 the red used on Corvettes was Roman Red which was an orangish red. I compared the 60 to the DM 1962 and they are completely different shades. I then took both models out to my garage and compared them both to my 1/1 which has original paint and the 62 matched my 61 exactly and the DM 60 is not even close. In an earlier post, Phil said that a color that didn't appeal to him would receive a demerit even though it was correct. I totally disagree with that as that is just his opinion and shouldn't have anything to do with rating a model. In this case where the color is totally wrong a demerit is definately in order. My question to DM is...if you did the 62 correctly, what happened to the 60?
Bob, I asked this same question a while back after seeing the bright red on the DM photo of the '60 red LE Corvette. My '62 has an orangish tint and the color is also called "Roman Red."
Rusty said he already has his '60 LE and the color was a match to the '62.
Now I'm wondering if they did a couple of different paint batches and you might have one or the other.
Sounds like the old FM "Miami-Sand" fiasco with the Packard-Darrin. Mine is yellow but others have a decided green tint. Stuff happens.

I received my '60 Vette today and the color is noticeably darker than my '62 Vette without even.....
placing the models next to one another. The color looks more like like a mixture of red and maroon. It's going back and I won't ask for a replacement.
I agree. #1818 showed up today and it is a darker red than my '62.
It's pretty close to the dark red on the '53 Studebaker.
The front of my hood is a little low and it doesn't sit flush with the body.
If I send it back this will be my first one returned to DM.

I usually don't get too critical of these little cars but this is inexcusable since they knew what Roman Red paint was at one time. This is a stupid mistake.
