Tin Wizard recently reissued Zaugg's 1950 Mercury model in a variety of racing colors. This is undoubtedly a great event for all white metal collectors, but in my opinion, the prices are very high.
I have a 1949 Mercury from BRK 15 in my collection, but to fill the gap in my 1950 collection, I started looking for an older model from the 80s-90s and was able to acquire a Skyline assembled from a kit.
The model is painted green and has foil-coated frames. The interior is good.
If the frames were foil-coated, it wouldn't be very realistic. Another drawback is the wheels, which are too plain. White sidewalls with more realistic hubcaps would have been more appropriate. The base is almost perfect, and you can read the model and manufacturer information on it.
The main problem with the 1950 Mercury from Zaugg/Skyline is that it's not a 1/43 scale model. I compared it to the Brooklyn, and it looks like the Zaugg/Skyline...

To illustrate my previous post I'd like to compare both models- BRK 15 1949 Mercury ( refinished version) and 1950 Mercury by Skyline. Brooklin- on the left side, Skyline- on the right.
German model is smaller than English. If Brooklin has correct scale it means that Skyline isn't in 1/43.

This Brooklin '49 Mercury really does benefit from detailing.

"The 1950 Mercury coupe, part of the popular third-generation design (1949-1951), had a wheelbase of 118 inches (2,997 mm)"

The best 1/43 model of a 49-51 Mercury is the 1950 MiniChamps coupe in black  which was also included in the 100 years of Ford collection.

@karl Obviously, Zaugg/ Skyline has 1/45- 1/46 scale but not 1/43. Did they rework their mould for modern reissues or these NASCAR models are based on the obsolete casting?

@bob-jackman Minichamps 100 years Anniversary Ford set was incredible. Very sad that now the company from Germany doesn't produce new 1/43 models.

@fred-eliseeff I totally agree Fred. I have over 100 MiniChamps 1/43 scale models and everyone is a gem.

@fred-eliseeff I do not have either one, so I have no idea.  It's hard to compare your photos to MAR Online's...

@karl I'm not sure that Tin Wizard has reworked their old mould. They added more chrome detailes, upgraded headlights and used photo- etched parts. But apparently the body wasn't changed. In any case I'm sure that collectors who bought them can show these models here.
