A couple months ago I was able to write the article about a small company Cheshire Scale Models which was producing such white metal models as Bristol 401/403, Bentley Type R Continental and Daimler DS 420. Its founder and proprietor Mike Michalak emigrated to Australia in 1994. Here he tried to establish Premiere Scale Models brand for production of other Bristols designed by Martin Field. Alas, this idea has never been realized and he sold some patterns to Big River Models. But he then Mike made another attempt to continue operations in model buildind and in 2000 established new company Caldecott Miniature Models which started producing diecast pickups Ford and Holden in different scales.
Unfortunately, this wasn't very successful in competing with Trax and Classic Carlectables and in 2004 ceased to exist.
I really didn't hope to find any models of this company- they are rather rare even in Australia and here are no chances at all to watch them in selling. But one day I noticed this model in selling and decided to purchase it without any hesitation because firstly, I collect all Fords, Mercury, Lincolns and Edsels in 1/43 scale, secondly because scoring information about Mike Michalak and his model business took much time and I was very interested in.
This model is the 1971 Ford Falcon XY Ute 500 in white color.
Cerificate signed by Mike Michalak informs that only 2500 produced in this color. The model has excellent level of details. Door handles, rear mirrors, windscreen wipers, aerial, patrol cap are made as separate parts. Interesting feature is opening rear platform. Baseplate is good modeled too and reproduces exhaust system, transmission and suspension details. Interior made quite well too.
Packaging is cardboard box and acrylic podium inside it. Rear side of box informs about technical charactersistics of tge real car, down side tells about company's address, official licence of Ford and informs that the model has been made in China ( like all Australian diecast models since the end of 80s).
If you look attentively you can see little painting problems and small casting defects which models by Trax and other Australian manufacturers don't have.
In any case I think that this is nice and neat replica which illustrates interesting history of Mike Michalak and his model companies.
VERY nice!! Write up and model alike! Well done!

Thanks Fred. Interesting background and post. I am not a truck guy but I do understand the Australian attraction to them.
