Just acquired a pair of these 1986 Austin Montegos. Stay tuned, one will become an estate (station wagon). Bear with me, getting these was a challenge. I first, back in September, ordered a pair from an Ebay vendor in Greece. A month later per the tracking they arrived at my local post office. Tracking never showed "out for delivery". After a few days I inquired at the PO and was advised that because there was a one letter misspelling in the street name (although PO had my email and there was a 9 digit zip code narrowing it down to only 20 households) they deemed it undeliverable and summarily returned it within hours to the sender in Greece. Contacted seller to expect package back. Two months later never received back. Contacted my PO who advised the package was "lost" per the last internal tracking info from a nearby bulk mail facility. Ebay denies a claim, as process was over 30 days. Still under investigation with Paypal. After the lost determination, I ordered from a UK vendor and these were received in 14 days. Well sometimes, it's all about the chase in this hobby.
One photo shows the Montego with its related Maestro in white metal by Hastings Classics SMTS. The Montego is a diecast by Hachette. Nice model and surprisingly being a British car, in LHD but it does come with those pesky triangular mounting screws.

I thought I heard once that there would be an MG version. BTW, that's insane that the PO sent it back witha nine digit zip.

The package return has happened to me twice in the last 2 years, once to Canada but that one got back after a month. The problem is that the route person is always a substitute, (I have not had a regular mail person for over 2 years) and they have no idea about the route, streets or residents. They are usually operating in the dark, my mail comes about 8:30 PM now. Multiple complaints to my congressman have not resulted in any improvement.
Like you, I wouldn't mind a badge engineered MG too.

John, this model came out in Greece as part of their Our Cars partworks, hence the LHD.

Yes I know that is where I tried unsuccessfully to get them first. I only wonder how many of the real cars BL sold in Greece?
