I have absolutely no idea how this works but I have discovered that if I swipe my finger across a photo image taken on my phone the silhouette of the car slides off onto a white background.  How that happens, who knows, but here is an example of the results.

@frank

I have been trying it on my iPhone8. So far, I have not been able to do it. Maybe I am not swiping correctly. I will keep trying. It is a nice capability.

Ed, sometimes it works, sometimes not so much. Perhaps it is dependent upon the position of the moon. Here are two Corvairs.

After these, the swiping hasn’t worked but it will again. For me it takes the right touch. You figure. When it does work I like the effect.

They've been using this in Fashion for many years. You photograph the sample front, back etc.; send it to the girls in sales; and the next thing, it's on the website with white background - often sans model - and in every available colour and print. You just click to see back and sides.  They're so clever in sales!

There are 2 or more free websites that will do this to any image.  I used it occasionally to upload photos to hobbyDB, but then I got lazy and stopped!  🙄
