A classic diecast for today 9/27/21 - CIJ 3/15 1955 Chrysler Windsor sedan

This diecast came out in 1956, about the time Corgi began making cars with windows. Mine has a few chips but is in pretty good shape overall. I bought a repro box to go with it.

For a model made that long ago, it looks pretty good.  I was curious about the tires.  Why are they white?

@ed-davis In the 1950s before two-part or printed tires, some of the European makers used white tires to represent whitewalls. Dinky (both UK and France) did this a lot. See the DeSotos below. Maybe they thought kid's play would darken the bottom tread?

Great question!   Many post-war European diecast cars had white tires.   I assume it was easier or cheaper to source, plus some old old cars had white tires!  Here are 2 Teknos from the 1950s!
