John, I like the model, and I really am envious of your photography skills.  But the 1:1 just isn't one of my favorite cars.  A friend owned one, drove it for many miles with few problems, and finally, when it was five or so years old, just couldn't sell it.  There was no market.  He gave it to a charitable organization for a tax write-off.  But that was a long time ago and I guess standards have changed.  One question:  Is the black edging around the rear window really that prominent?

I happen to be a fan of these Rivs. Not everything in life has to be bland IMO.

On the real car, it is not as prominent as shown in the photo Lloyd provided. The model does however feature it too heavy. It is still a nice model I just look past that little distraction.

This is one of my favorite Buick designs. Bill Mitchell oversaw the development of the design. At a time when domestic cars were about to get generic and bland, the Riviera was stunning and polarizing, exactly what a good design should be.

I opted for the diecast by Premium X, an exclusive for Model Car World. Saw no need to buy white metal or resin versions after getting this one.

This was one of those designs that I just couldn't warm up to over the years.

Agreed. Not a great fan of this style but if you want a model of it the Premium X is hard to beat, and very affordable.

I have that as well Harv. I am a fan of this Buick style-having driven several from 1971-1973. They were all great driving cars.

a '72 in white metal from WMCE

1972 Buick Riviera Hdtp 0

another '72 in diecast from Premium X

1972 Buick Riviera Hdtp 01

A very cool real car and model ! I have Yat Ming's 1/43, as well as their 1/18th version. An unmistakable GM/Buick design.

I have 71 Buick Riviera (Road Signature)

Interesting article, a little surprised the Monte Carlo was not included in discussion.

And Western Models did one as well,  this one built as a kit.   What I am hoping for is a circa 1995 Riviera.  Goldvarg, Esval, NEO,  Kess?

1972 Riviera plus #2
