Maybe it's the tires. Perhaps, if it had a black stripe, just the opposite of a black tire with a whitewall stripe??

Another pair of 1957 Plymouth Plazas.  This one in blue over blue, a slightly more realistic color.  Strangely, this one has no interior although the taxi does.  Both of the spun wheel era of Dinkys.

All good looking Plymouth replicas ! As a small kid I remember having a 1955 Plymouth coupe as a 1/25 promo.
