A quiet model on a quiet day, being my most recent completion. (PICs)

Many of us might not recognize this British Riley at first glance, as few were exported to the U.S.

This 1:1 was produced about 1962, and the Mikansue kit is probably from the early to mid 1990's. It's white metal and 1:43 in scale.

Base plate info for those interested, and, yes, I exchanged those soft Mikansue tires for more modern version of the same size. And I resisted shifting to white walls, too.

I have enjoyed my renewed interest in building these 1:43 models over the last couple of years, and I have several others in the planning/ considering stages. I'm no professional and sometimes get the quivers, but it's fun and reminds me of those Revell Highway Pioneers that I built as a kid. Enjoy!

Very nicely done, David. I like the red metallic paint job.
Beautiful job. There was a Riley in my home town. It was a grayish been one. I also had a Riley Dinky Toy in light green. Keep those pictures coming. You do nice work.

Curiousity got the better of me David. 1990's seemed too recent.
The #28 kit was announced in the July 1981 issue of Modellers' World, published by the Richardsons. Interestingly, I had dinner with Mike and Sue the previous month on my one and only visit to the UK.

Thanks, Harvey. Your good dating now makes some of the crude castings more understandable. The windshield wipers, for instance, are hardly recognizable. And the wheels/axles assemblies are very clumsy. Yet the over-all model is quite representative of the 1:1.

David, although Mikansue made rough kits it were lovely models.
Not Always easy to build, caused by fitting problems.
Yours looks good. You must be a Mikansue/Motorkits/Americana lover. How many are in your collection?.

Hi Jacques, I have the Bantam and the Kaiser. One (pic) that I am thinking of assembling soon is the Austin 7 Ruby of 1935. It looks interesting. Unbuilt, I also have the Jaguar XK150 and the Squire 1 1/2 litre Sports of 1934. Others are scattered in my collection. Yes, I like these models, even though the more recent racing cars are of less importance to me. Your pictures would be of great interest to me!

I sold mine when the Lansdowne Riley and Wolseley versions came out. A friend in NY has a 1:1 Riley 1.5. Very sporting car with a plush interior, all based on a Morris Minor floor plan and suspension but with the larger 1489cc engine.
