If you are into SUVs and off-roaders you might be interested in this recent 1:43 issue of a Land Rover Discovery Mk 1 by Oxford Diecast. It featured in MAR Online recently but maybe you don't check out that site regularly.

Discovery

I have a selection of Land Rovers and Range Rovers, but no Disco, so I got one of these last week and they really have done a pretty good job of it. You can see how well it matches up to the real thing (colour varies between photos but the Foxfire Maroon is actually very accurate on the model).

Oxford Disco 1
Oxford Disco 2

Detailing is very good and they have managed some very fine "Land Rover" and "Discovery" badging

Discovery Oxford 4
Discovery Oxford 3
Discovery Oxford 5

Two other colour versions are available - "Marseilles" (dark blue) and "Mistrale" (light blue)

Discovery Mistrale
Discovery Marseilles

And if you're short of space they have also done them in 1:76 and managed to make them look pretty much like the 1:43 versions.

Thanks Graeme. These look great. I think Oxford does an excellent job with most of their models from proportions to paint.

Oxford has done a nice job with this Land Rover Discovery. I did not realize there was a 2 door Discovery.  Thanks, Graeme,   for your post on this one.

David,  The two door Discovery of this era was never marketed in the USA.   There MIGHT be a few grey market ones floating around however. Graeme was generous enough to gift me a Gaffe resin kit of one on my visit to London when we met in 2008.  It was quickly built and painted white.  Thank you Graeme!  Shown here with a diecast Autoart four door.

Thanks Graeme. I saw this in MAR and have been considering one of the versions, probably the Mistrale.
