Today, a much-anticipated arrival came to the door: a Matrix 1959 Bentley S2 Harold Radford Estate.  It is one of the models I coveted and I only wish I could find any Bentley or Rolls Royce Harold Radford estate in 1:24 or 1:18 scale.  Someday...

I was recently shown a rather interesting variation of the Rolls Royce Harold Radford Estate, also produced by Matrix.  The surprise for me was the rear of the model I was shown actually opened.  (I'm sure most of you know the RR HR rear is accessed through a traditional station wagon setup, whereas the Bentley HR has two vertical doors.)

And, for the frosting on the cake, here is one variation of the 1:1 Bentley S2 HR, though whether or not this one is the original from which Matrix took their design cues is a question the answer to which I don't know :

Here's the early version of the Matrix Rolls (no open rear panel):

@mg-harv  Now, that is beautiful!  So, there were two versions of this model.  I had thought the back end of one of the pics I posted did not have the cuts that would indicate the tailgate could be opened.  Now, it makes sense.  Frankly, I would love to have both, but I wager they are not going to be inexpensive.  Do you know the product name Matrix used so I may do a search?  Thank you for posting these images, Harv.

@mg-harv   Thank you, Harv, and I will do a search and see what I can find.  (I took a screensave of your message and added it to the RR SC HR folder, as my mind tends to act like a sieve, lately.)

@mg-harv  I found something interesting, as one often does when poking around.  It appears Cult Models also did this '59 RR SC HR soft-top, with the top drawn closed.  It appears to be a softer material than resin, though that could just be the photography.  Have you encountered this one, before?  And, another question: are Cult Models quality products?

@gdh Don't know much about that one, nor Cult.

@mg-harv   In comparison to the Matrix model it appears to sit higher and the wheelbase seems shorter, but that could just be my perspective.

I can't speak to 1/24 availability, but this 1/18 Cult - I did a spot check  - does appear to be sold out everywhere.....   😔 😔 😔

@chris   Thank you, Chris, but these posts show the model is unavailable.  Question: do you know if this model is a static model, or does it have opening doors etc?

@gdh Correct, it's sold out everywhere, and it's a static model, nothing opens.  😔 😔

@chris  In the 1:24 and the 1:18 I am opting for models with opening doors etc.  I do like my BOS Bentley, but I would prefer it had those features.

@gdh I hear 'ya brother.    There are several 1/18 resin models I'd own - IF - they were NOT sealed.     I just can't purchase a sealed 1/18 replica; I must have working features!   In fact, on 1/18 models with sealed trunks or non-posable front wheels, I'll correct that.    😉 🤓
