I like the Western Models kits and have assembled several, but this one obviously needed some fine tuning from its inception, primarily in fitting the rear axle/wheels into the frame that goes inside the body.  I have read that Jaguar had something of a similar problem.  Here's a short history of the 1:1 that I found helpful-

I'm fairly satisfied with my results, but I think my next project will be a more modern kit.

Nice results!

I haven't built 1/43rd kits since the '90's (1/24 and 1/25 are my preferred building scales), but I've recently picked up AMR, Tameo and Record kits. I feel inspired.

Go for it, John!  And I enjoy taking a picture now and then during the process.   Here's the one I'm starting today:
