Britains tractor help

Hi - does anyone know the history of the Britains County 1884 yellow tractor? I have one that shows a date of 1987 but the only info I've found so far says this model was issued for one year only in 1989. Similarly I also have a Valmet 805 log grabber with black cab dated 1986 and other sources suggest that this model was issued in 1989. I'm new to diecast collecting so please forgive my ignorance if the answer is simple! Thanks

Martin, most of us are car folks but perhaps someone has the answer.

Martin, the information you need may be available from ....

this book:

http://www.oldpond.com/acatalog/britains_model_tractors_1948_1998.htm

It has had very good reviews from the British die-cast press. I have a run of Britains catalogues from 1965 to present. So if you need any further info I may be able to help. However, information direct from catalogues is not necessary correct. Good luck! Chris

Britains

Hi Chris
Thanks for your response - I'll try to get hold of the book. I'm just a bit puzzled by the different info mostly given by people trying to sell their models. On ebay there's a guy who states that the 1884 county was limited to production in 1989 but as I said my one shows a date of 1987 which doesn't make sense (unless I'm missing something!). I was hoping to find a collector's club but it seems that the military models from Britains are more popular as I've found loads of sites for these! Oh well, I'll continue the research and thanks again.

Britains

Dick, thanks for that. I also have quite a large collection of cars - corgi, matchbox, burago, majorette etc. but I've found it much easier to research these, perhaps that shows that they are more popular.
