BRK176x. Early last year, I had made a note that Brooklin was planning to release a repaint of the 1954 Desoto 2 dr htp for 2016. There is no mention of this on their website. Does anyone know if this is still planned in 2017? Thanks.

No answer to this but I followed up on your question re: '42 DeSoto and confirmed just below (22227) that our moderator was correct about the Conquest model's material and origin.

I think that this planned repaint was dropped, Ken. I was looking forward to it because I believe that the repaint was going to be in my favorite color scheme, and I was planning to add it to my black over red one.

Brooklin is now issuing many completely new models with new masters being made ('65 Impala, '54 Willys Aero, Buick GS convertible, Chrysler T&C Sedan), so I think the planned repaints of many of the older issues is a thing of the past.

Hopefully the 2017 schedule will be released soon and then we'll know for sure whether to expect the DeSoto or not.

It was planned originally to issue it but when it was listed it had been forgotten that the master 'birdcage' had been modified to make the convertible. Normally investment castings are taken from a master to make variants but in this case the Desoto had already been issued as a sedan, hardtop and convertible so it was felt the model had run its course. With no master 'birdcage' to make moulds from unfortunately there will be no more of these DeSotos. Hope this helps!

The black over red one is still one of their best IMO.

Thanks John for the clarification/explanation.The 54 Desoto hardtop is one of my favourite Brooklins although I missed its original release.Guess I'll have to find a red/black edition. They are getting harder now to find.

Ken let me know if you are interested in the Black over Red. I have two mint never displayed models and would be willing to sell one. I also agree that this is one of Brooklin's finest models to date.

You're welcome, Ken. Either one is a rare model.
