I'm trying to get this Facebook connection going! (pic) I thought Facebook was just for my grandchildren!

I think this is one of several shots of the '42 Olds wagon under construction. Looks interesting!

Here's an old picture of the 1:1.

Not a model that interests me really, but I'm slightly intrigued ...

... by that cut-out at the forward end of the front door window. The real car shown doesn't have a quarter light or a door mirror there. It could just be a flaw in an early test casting, but it looks deliberately cut. Could it be to accommodate a locating tab for the wood framing?

Maybe Mike C or JR can satisfy my modeller's passing curiosity.

I guess the "stylists" were attempting to use up their allocation of chrome before the war curtailed production. That car has a face only a mother could love?.

Still, I'll probably get one for the position the cars of '42 held in history. And because it's a woody. Otherwise, I'd pass for sure.

PIC - New Olds will combine '41 Pontiac wagon from cowl back with cowl forward '42 Olds sedanet

Conquest Models used a similar approach with their '47 Olds woody, however I think they chose the larger 76 series platform and as a result the model, though an impressive parade float that it is, to my eyes seems longer than the 66 series it represents.

Brooklin has apparently successfully replicated the proportions of this new Olds wagon.

I have to agree with Rick that the face of this car is very strange but like the bizarre '61 Plymouth, I have grown to like it. I certainly will be adding this model to my collection.

Finally, I have no idea about the origin or purpose of that notch just aft of the A pillar. I look forward to the answer to this question.

Here's the Brooklin '41 Pontiac woody which I think is being used for this new model:

Here's the aforementioned Conquest '47 Olds. I do not have this lovely $275 model so I can't say if it is scale accurate:

PIC Agree, Randall - I also have grown to like it...

and will be adding the wagon to my collection.
It will be a nice companion to the blue club sedan (with modified front)

Ralf, nice blackwash and detail improvement. I also like the red wheels with this blue colour

I would gues that it’s something to do with the wooden framing around the side windows, which, when in place, the notch will not be seen. All will be revealed of course when the model is released.
