Brooklin BRK73 1949 Oldsmobile

There is a blue 1949 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday convertible listed on Ebay,( eBay item number:142109837066)
however the box shows it as a 1949 Holiday Coupe BRK 73. The Brooklin website does not appear to have a 1949 Oldsmobile Holiday convertible listed. Can anyone tell me if Brooklin made a 1949 Olds 98 Holiday convertible and if not who makes the model being sold E on Ebay? Thanks.

This was a Club special built in limited quantities...

I seem to remember it had a figure with it to represent Hoagy Carmichael unless my memory has completely surrendered to Penderyn.

Some more info, courtesy of "Special Brooklins" by Roger Mateo:

This is a '48 Olds Futuramic 98 convertible, designated 73x. It was the 2001 Brooklin Collectors Club model, and was a rework of the '49 Olds 98 hardtop. As JR noted, it came with an Omen figure of Hoagy Carmichael, based on the fact that the famed songwriter once owned an Olds like it. The model has "BCC Special 2001" cast into the baseplate. Roger's book gives a production figure of 250 for the model.

The article in the book was written by forum moderator Dick Browne.

You're welcome, Ken. It's nice to have Roger's books so I can shed some light on questions like yours. Since Roger's books don't have any recent information, Mr. Gianluigi Cappi's book on all things Brooklin may prove to be a necessity soon!

The standard issue models are hard to find. This one is a rare one indeed.

Thanks, Mr. Cappi, and I corrected my misspelling of your name in my post!

The information in Mr. Cappi's book comes from the same source I noted above: Roger Mateo's "Special Brooklins," with the article written by Dick Browne.

Just wanted to make sure that the author gets appropriate credit!

From the Preface of my Guide.

"In my search for Brooklins I had the opportunity to know many collectors around the world, among them Roger Mateo of San Francisco, California. He is the founder of the S.F.B.B.C. and editor of the Club magazine, which is full of interesting information on Brooklin models. He also published two books, one on standard models and the other one on special models, and he was so kind to send me all the interesting and beautiful model descriptions he wrote for these books giving me the permission to use them in the guide. I had to review them, adapt them to the scope of this book and add the missing ones, but without his contribution this work would not have been possible. Therefore, my great thanks goes to Roger, also for the continuous support he gave me in the preparation of the guide."

One I made at the time (PICS)

Always a favourite - shame it was never released as a regular model.
