I have a question for you about the supporting base/plinth used with current Brooklin models.  I am wondering if you leave the models on the plinth or remove it? I removed the model from the base on my three previous purchases, but have not decided what to do about my recent purchase of Jeff Lane's 1965 Chevrolet Impala from the recent show and future purchases.  I have some concern about creating flat spots on the tires from long term pressure of the tires and plinth.  Most white metal models I display today, I keep slightly raised on strips of basswood.  Just curious what other collectors do.

I leave mine on the plinth, Ed.

I take the model off the plinth and display in a cabinet. No problems with flat tyres which can still happen on plinth. Any problems get replacement tyres. The beauty of Brooklin

I also take mine off of the plinth and have never had a problem with flat spots on my white metal models. With over 6,000 models I would not have room to display all of my models if I left them on the bases in any scale except my resin 1/43 scale and I keep them in their plastic display cases which I can stack.

@jkuvakas I have one new Brooklin w/o a plinth and another on a plinth but without a cover. i'd prefer to keep these two on a shelf, "plinthed" and covered.  Could I get what i need from Brooklin? I've noticed that my most convenient retailer doesn't carry the plinthed versions, and it's just too expensive now to order from UK.

Regarding flat spots I very slightly loosen the attachment screw to release some pressure on the model.  The tires may not be as likely to adhere to its base. But i also don't mind a little flat spotting because to me it adds a little realism.

@mark-lampariello, I haven't had a problem with shipping from the UK to the USA. It's not cheap but it's nowhere near current shipping charges from the EU. I suggest you email Amanda and ask her what the total would be on an empty box. Other than that, you can wait until a parts model in a newer box shows up at a low price. I'm not aware of any other way to get a Brooklin plinth.

I've never seen flat-spotting on a Brooklin. Minimarque however, is another case....
