Brooklin NB '37 Studebaker

I am glad you got your model. Just wondering, how much was the tariff and who was the shipper?

The shipper was DHL and the tariff was $31.01. I had to pay it before they would deliver.

The model was ordered on Brooklin's website at $232 USD plus shipping $41 USD. 

Seems to be taking a while to sell out. It was introduced in 2021, got mine way back in February 2023.

Yes, that's my guess as to why it's priced relatively low for an NB Center version.

It's a great model. I actually have three of them, 1 of the NB Center Collection and 2 of the BML series. The color difference of the NB version sold me on it. I bought it when it was 1st released in January 2023. Congratulations on Studebaker purchase, Moe, it's one of my favorite releases.

I had to pay my 1st tariff too, it was also for a Brooklin Model, the '84 Austin Montego in gold. I've pretty much stopped buying from anyone overseas, except Brooklin, it has become too much of a hassle. I've had a couple models returned to the seller because of shipping issues, still fighting for a refund for one. I have one that seems to be in limbo somewhere and the seller won't acknowledge the shipment issues. He's actually been ignoring me for about a week now.

@moe-parr I have another question about paying the tariff. I am wondering about what you did. For example, did DHL send you an email with a link, which you could use to pay with a credit card or was there a different way to pay?

If John Merritt sees this, what was your experience.

Just wondering what to expect, when I receive my Brooklin Road Runner.

I received an email from DHL which indicated a tariff was due, it contained a link for payment w/a credit card or PayPal. My fee was $28. Considering the cost of the model, the high shipping cost and the tariff, this all makes the model a bit costly. I've already curtailed all purchases from overseas anywhere. I only chose to buy when it something I must have. If I can't get it in the states, I'm not buying.

@jcarnutz Thanks for the info. The only models I buy from outside the US are from Brooklin. I expect the Road Runner to have a tariff charge. I am glad the tariff charges did not start until after Camaros shipped.

@jcarnutz I have another question for you. I assume the $28 fee was for the Austin Montego. Do you have any idea how that was determined? I thought the US tariffs for items from the UK was 10%. If your purchase was only the Montego, $28 appears to be a higher percent.

The carriers are charging the tariff and a processing charge for collecting it. It all has to be paid online before delivery, or it will not be delivered.

I looked up the email that I received from DHL, the fee was $28.26 it doesn't indicate a breakdown of the charge, it labels the charge as a "duty fee" only. Regardless of what it actually is, I paid it because I had to in order to get the model that I purchased. It wasn't a total surprise as I know what it is going on with oversea purchases. I've had two orders returned to the seller because no arrangement was made to pay this fee. I've had one that was prepaid at the time of the order, we'll see how that turns out as I haven't received that model yet. At least Brooklin or DHL has the arrangement in place to cover this fee. I can say, that in the future, I will be looking at overseas purchases more carefully, if I even consider them at all. 

I will add that I made my 1st overseas model purchase in 1997 and until now, 28 years later, never gave it a 2nd thought, I considered the process the same as when buying from the States. That has changed, and all things considered, the world has gotten smaller and less friendly for business. My opinion of course.

Although I think I do appreciate why it is occurring at this time in history and why it is so important for the future of western world economics, I sure hope this tariff issue gets resolved soon.  It must be a big negative for international business interests at all levels, which is obviously critical for the big picture.  Just a quick comment....not wanting to get political here today.  Thanks.
