It's nice that you can fit 4 full size American cars on an
European trailer. Meanwhile the American Truck 1/43 series is rereleasing that weird shaped carrier attached to a Chevy 9100 LCF cab.

@john-quilter Many years ago I bought a resin 1/43 '59 Impala 4-dr sedan body which required a donor car.... I started the project but never completed it. A few months back I noticed that there is NOW a 1/43 1959 Chevrolet available..... so, I'll probably never finish mine.
Looks like your 4-dr sedan was like mine, a "resin."
Trax, does a pair of Belair four door sedans in two tones.  Check their website but completing the kit and donor you have will be much cheaper than the Trax.

@jaygolan This is a fictious livery as far as I know. They simply re-painted their original release of an actual "oddly shaped" hauler used in Michigan during the mid 1950s and attached it to a Chevy truck.
If ANYONE has a picture of this actual 1:1 Chevy hauler... I'd love to see. I've created a few 1/18 haulers and I'm currently fabricating one in 1/64 scale (in the Handicraft Forum ) and have sourced/referenced countless vintage hauler photos but have never seen this Chevy/hauler/livery combination.Â
I don't know, usually with the release of these models there's a booklet with photos of the real truck. I know the cab is a rerelease of one they have attached to a Mayflower trailer. The only Chevy LCF associated with Industrial Transport is this one.

The above yellow cab over Ford with a load of 1958 Fords is a replica of an actual truck as pictured on page 74 of my American Car Haulers book. The pictured truck had the same color scheme and trailer design features and was operated by E & L Transport.
The blue and cream rig with the 1957 Fords is pictured in the book on page 77 and it states it was operated by Automotive Conveying out of the Metuchen NJ assembly plant.
I see no photo in the book of the red Chevrolet cabover truck and trailer by Industrial Transport of Lansing Michigan but the 221 page book has hundreds of photos of auto transporters over many decades.  There were dozens of somewhat different designs in the 1950s and 1960s some with racks over the cabs that accommodated five cars.

Probably true but the circa 1954 tan cabover tractor was probably worn out by 1957 and retired for a 1957 version using the same trailer. None of these trucks had very large engines which had to work pretty hard pulling a trailer with four 3500-4000 pound cars aboard. Interestingly in this era some Chevrolet heavy gasoline trucks used the Buick nail head V8 until Chevrolet launched their bigger 348 and 409 engines with heavy duty industrial specs.

- Correct John. That yellow 1/18 '56 Ford C.O.E. was fabricated by me to match that "E&L Transport" photo. This is an ongoing project on the 1/18 Forum. The blue '57 Ford C.O.E. is a new 1/64 project (in the Handicrafts Forum ) but all I have is this ONE photo. Â
- Thanks for the INFO about it!  If you have a COLOR photo... I'd love to see it!  I have pics of "Convoy" (not Automotive Conveying ) hauler trucks, but they're a lighter greenish-gray.
- That blue 1/18 was a project from about 12 years. I replicated this MHS trailer.
Great display and lots of detail! The time you spent putting it together must have been immense but certainly worth it. The photos are great but don’t do justice to your planning and set up figure and car setup and the theme conveyed. But gives us a glimpse of its entirety. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Chuck

I do not need another car transporter from this era but wouldn't mind finding just the tractor, a COE 1957 Chevrolet with sleeper box.  Maybe IXO will offer it sometime.
