Cobra Daytona CSX 2299

After determining that the TSM model was not 2299 I pulled out the Marsh Models kit I'd bought about 20 years ago and built that. To the best of my knowledge it is the only one in our scale with the correct roofline. Check the end-to-end photos; it's subtle but 2299 has the high point of the roof at the windshield while all others have it several inches behind the windshield. Theoretically that should have made it slower that the others but with Dan doing the driving it had the best record of all the Coupes. Marsh kit has a nice interior too. If you're interested in the TSM model contact me.photo no longer available

More PICS - Hi Wayne , Thanks for posting the comparo pics.

Was wondering what the Marsh model looked like compared to the TSM.

Here is a pic of the original #2299, the most successful of the Daytona Coupes in competition.

And another of the IT built cars, #2286 with the taller front roof line.

Finally, the first and only CA built car was #2287 just as Peter Brock designed it. Note the flatter section above the windshield front which the IT builders did not do because it just did not look right. This is the car that TSM is supposedly producing next. Am wondering if TSM will get the roof correct due to the additional tooling expense, but that is the car that
I would like to have in my collection. Should be out soon hopefully. Car will be numbered 10.

Note how the side window slants down toward the front.

Another view. #2287 is in the Simeone collection.

Cheers and Happy Collecting and Building,
Steve

PS Here is a fascinating story about the coupes as told by Peter Brock himself.

Thanks Steve-- great photos. Note all the rust-- supposedly the car wasn't cleaned very well after its last run, the records set on the salt flats.
