If you like your 1:43's large, this truck is for you, seven inches long! Only 333 are planned and a good number have been pre-ordered at the distributor, so you won't want to wait. I know Legacy will carry them but I don't see it up as yet. It will arriving soon and the price will be around $134.95.

Interesting! I have seen larger models of this one, most recently by Ertl, and it resulted in a little research. This truck (all 6 of them) really caught attention. A few similar oil trucks were made later in the 30's. The 1:1 original was a Diamond T chassis, and the Doodlebug was only 72 inches high (that was 4 inches taller than a '34 Ford sedan), and 26 feet long. This is going to look as unusual on our shelves as it must have looked around the Texaco plants, refineries, and customers. The Doodlebug could transport 1500 gallons with its rear engine. One note I found interesting- the Alabama firm that built these included a listening device so the driver could hear the engine running. Those who drive straight shifts can appreciate this!

But wasn't all this in post 20026.1 already?

Perhaps it bears repeating, older members have shorter memories. Smile

And I'm as guilty as anyone.
