I found some simple cut-outs for a Coke machine and a chips/candy/sandwich machine and attempted to put them together without mishap. I'll let the TDZ members determine the degree of success I may (or may not) have achieved. They will be an addition to a planned repair shop diorama I am contemplating, once I do a bit of touching up to their edges with a black marker. Their 'transporter' is a 1940 Dodge Plateau, by Solido. I don't like Coca Cola at all, but it is an icon and in the beginning of my collecting I found this truck to be a bit of fun. It was a tenner, so no major investment, though I do wonder if it should have had cases of Coca Cola stacked on the back.
It all looks pretty good to me.💯😊
@geno Thank you, Geno, and when my new camera arrives I will take photos of the backs of the machines, which have the cooling coils and such printed on them.
....get your black marker out and do your touch-ups, then you'll be done. 😉 😉
@chris Yes, I think that will be all they need, at this point. I don't anticipate going the cut-out root again, in the near future. Their concept was good, but the design had weaknesses.
@chris These were the only ones I encountered during my search. I still have to fashion tie-downs from colored rubber bands, when I have time.
That '40 Dodge diecast vehicle looks great and especially so with your additions ! Solido did a fine job with this one and I am happy to have that same Solido replica and in that same color. I usually display it with a pickup back I quickly fabricated for it. I also have it's regular "Coca-Cola" canvas-style back cover.
@michaeldetorrice Thank you, Michael. I have seen the pickup model you mentioned for sale and I may add that one to the list.
@chris Ever the period-perfectionist, eh? 😀 It reminds me of how we used to know police were in the vicinity of our club, in unmarked cars - black-walls with small hubcaps covering the lug nuts. A dead giveaway.
@gdh ....yeah, I've always been this way; I was never big on "fantasy models."
I desire replicas to be miniatures of what actually existed, period. Oh sure, there probably were a few "decked out" service trucks in the 1940's that undoubtedly included whitewall tires - I'd be naive to think otherwise, however, until I can verify it - see actual proof - I'll stick with less glamourous Coca-Cola service trucks. 😉
