OK, I am baffled. I just received a few of these '56 DeSoto Firedome Sevilles by NEO (NEO46851), and there is a weird appendage on the right front fender that I cannot identify! It appears to be a stray door handle that got glued to the fender by mistake, but a hole was drilled there for deliberate placement (and all of the models I received are identical). I thought it might be a strange antenna mount or something, but the antennae on the 1:1 cars are on the driver's side. A search of the internet revealed that this is common for all of the NEO models, but I cannot find a photo of a single 1:1 car that has this! I'm sure it will be a face-palm moment for me when someone provides the answer, but I really have no clue! Any thoughts?

My guess is a radio antenna in the down position wrongly placed.

I've just spent a delightful 10 minutes looking at pictures of the '56 DeSoto on the web, 1:1 versions.   There is no such appendage on any fender that I could find.  I suggest that NEO goofed.  Here's my Collector's Classic '56 for comparison.

They may have goofed on a side mirror mount, curious to see the driver side view of the model.

It may be that they drilled (or cast) the mirror mount hole in the wrong place, and stuck a big chrome doohickey in it so nobody would notice! The front-to-back position is about right for a mirror, but it obviously needs to be on the top of the fender, not the side. Pity; the rest of the model is beautiful!

I haven't a clue. I can offer up only two viable answers:

1) NEO made a mistake, as they did with the full wheelcovers...there should be a color-keyed (or black) rim showing.

2) Neo's "example 1:1 car" had something there (a car in Europe for example, with some kind of wacky antenna ???) and NEO simply replicated it. I've seen this kind of mistake before (on all scales).

This NEO Desoto, however, is a terrific model. Nothing here, IMO, is a deal breaker.  Good luck Dave in your quest for an answer.

Here's a pic on an after-market antenna on the RF. My guess is NEO's "example car" had something like this on it...and aftermarket "something." Even this 1/18 BOS Desoto has a RF mounted antenna.

I agree with Chris. The pattern was made using a car that had an antenna installed in that position.
